This terms enrichment week has coincided with Black History Month and therefore we have used this for the weeks focus. Each class has looked at influential people within black history.
Acorn Class: Acorns have used the theme 'Different but the same' and spent time observing how we are all different from each other. They have been celebrating everyone's differences.
Wootton Class: Wootton have studied Rosa Parks and re-enacted the scene on the bus where she was segregated. They discussed how she stood up for her rights and how she supported others.
Denton Class: They have been learning about Barack Obama and wrote a fact file about him. They also learnt about the Martin Luther King speech and how it was such an important moment in black history. In addition they also looked at Ashley Banjo as an inspirational person closer to home, learning some street dance.
Swingfield: Swingfield listened to a lot of famous black musicians each day including the likes of: Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and Sheku Kanneh-Mason. They also learned about the civil rights movement by watching the film Ruby Bridges. They also found out about Martin Luther King's life and his troubles and successes. They researched modern and historic famous black people such as; Stormzy, Lewis Hamilton and many more.
A fantastic week was had by all.
