Welcome to Wootton!
Come and see some of the wonderful things we do in Wootton Class!
A little selection of some classic stories recorded by our very own students at Selsted.
We hope you enjoy the stories.
A big thank you to all the parents that attended and donated cakes for our tea party.
It was a fantastic event and the kids really enjoyed themselves.
We managed to raise £104 for our class charity Water Aid which is an incredible amount!
Wootton class won the silver medal at the Agility Competition. The activites included distance throwing, bowling, the long jump and many more.
We are so proud of how hard they competed and gave each event their best shot!
To celebrate Chinese New Year Wootton class cooked their own selection of food.
Noodles, rice, sweet and sour chicken, apples, carrots and rice cakes were all prepared by the children who then had a lot of fun using chop sticks to eat.
Wootton class have made their own paper using an old Chinese technique.
They did have fun tearing up the newspaper, soaking it in water, mushing it up with their fingers then flattening it out on a paper tray to dry.
Wootton class really enjoyed their drama workshop.
Filled with games and adventure Wootton took part in a quest to recover the Book of Happy Endings, and I'm happy to say they were successful!
Wootton class had fun in PE linking it with our Maths Week theme. Children measured how far they could jump and used stop watches to time each other in various agility based activities.
Over the summer some wonderful parents repainted and refreshed our entrance corridor and the final touches were added this week.
Now, not only is the paint vibrant, the new display area is full of lovely work and we have fabulous welly boxes courtesy of Mr Fagg. Everything has been made brighter thanks to Mr Breedt and his electrical skills!
Thank you to everyone that has worked so hard - the children love it.
Wootton Class have been thoroughly enjoying using the outside Maths area for practical Maths lessons.
In dance this term we have been learning to express emotions through movements.
In Science we really enjoyed experimenting with materials to see which ones would make the best boat.
The class had great fun at the Easter fun afternoon which was held by FOSS.
The children worked in teams to find all of the eggs in our maths egg hunt. The children had to find the eggs and solve the math challenge inside.
Mr and Mrs Gower kindly bought their lambs to school to meet the children. They were very cute! The children got to stroke, hold and feed the lambs. One cheeky lamb even came to see the classroom!
As part of space week we had an astrodome in school. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing illuminations of the stars and the planets.
The whole school enjoyed having a group of Japanese teaching students visit. The Japanese students organised some cultural activities for the children to try in the afternoon. The children found using chop sticks tricky!
With the help of Mrs Ibbetson-Revell Wootton class baked cakes using a recipe from the 1660s! The children translated the ingredients and the method from old English. We thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do some fundraising for our class charity BARC. The class raised a fantastic £58.47!
One of our favourite things to do for P.E is Speed Stacking! We are fantastic at building and collapsing the towers. We even worked together to create giant walls of cups!
During term 3 we learnt all about The Great Fire of London. We thoroughly enjoyed the topic and learnt and remembered a lot of facts about the Great Fire. We enjoyed acting out the events of the fire, writing very descriptive and informative news paper reports, creating houses from 1666 and drawing fabulous oil pastel pictures of London during the fire.
We had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year. We made hats and paper lanterns which we decorated with Chinese writing. The best part was tasting Chinese food!
Pent Valley Secondary School came to visit for the day. They taught Year One how to use balance bikes. The children had a great time learning to balance and move on the bikes. It took a lot of patience and concentration! The children had a great time!
